SuperPlating™ is a technology to infuse water, resin, extracts (herbal and others), and fat/oil (lipid) based liquids into powdered carriers at room temperature. Unlike traditional food plating where the final powder is typically 7 – 10% liquid and 90 – 93% powdered carrier, the SuperPlating process produces a final powder which, depending on the liquid, may contain up to 80% liquid with as little as 20% carrier – saving up to 91% of supply chain costs
related to transportation and storage. Typical SuperPlating is done with 50% liquid and 50% carrier. SuperPlating is superior to conventional spray drying because it is done at room temperature. Molecular structure, nutritional value, isomeric, and, if applicable, the fatty acid profile of the base liquid is retained; there is no loss of flavor or color!
Sample Applications:
Cosmetic Ingredients
Flavors (concentrated powder)
Fortification
Foods
Carriers can include many soluble or insoluble substances like:
Dextrin (Maltodextrin and Tapioca)
Protein Powder
Vitamins premixes
Mineral Blends
Dried food blends
Starch (corn, rice, and potato)
Salt
Sugars (e.g. sucrose and fructose)
Coffee and Tea
Cellulose (as MCC)
Enzyme and probiotic powders
…and many more!
Note that in water based liquids, the percentage of “free water” needs to be less than 10% to reduce the likelihood of mold forming in the final powder. Because this process is done at room temperature, 99.9%+ of the liquid is infused.
